A Few Course Changes

The Classic is coming up fast as summer time rolls on. As we near the end of the summer everyone is planning their parties and end of summer activities. Likewise we are seeing a lot of runners that are planning their last few events before the cold season kicks in.

Runners aren't the only ones holding late summer activities, however. Layton City approached The Classic about the possibility of altering the race course to accommodate various groups requesting to use different areas of the park. We've taken into consideration Layton City's great support of The Classic in securing the course and offering police support and have put a few minor changes in to the course originally planned for this year's race. Please check the links on the right hand column of this page to view the new course maps.

While we apologize to those of you that have been scouting out the course and also to those of you that really look forward to the day The Classic reaches a stable course again, we think all of you will enjoy the changes we've made. All races will start and finish near the Ed Kenley Amphitheater in the park and we will utilize the facilities around the amphitheater for all race day activities (i.e. registration, start, finish, expo, prizes and food). Parking will also be a plus as we'll be able to utilize the city office building and Layton High School parking lots.

Again, thank you for your continued support in helping The Classic raise money for McKay-Dee Heart Services. We appreciate your input as we work to make this race the premier running event in Davis County, Utah.

Thanks for your inquiry.

When do we pick up our shirts?

Jeremy Holt said...

Good question. Shirts and packets can be picked up race day at the start/finish area. We will also be doing a day before packet pickup at Layton Hills Mall center court on Friday the 12th from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. if you would like to avoid race morning rush!

Are running strollers allowed???

Can you run even if you do the 2miler. Or is that a walk only

Yes, running strollers are definately allowed.

The 2 mile walk is a non-competitive fun stroll through the beautiful Layton Commons Park. If you want to run, the 5k is only one mile further, I recommend you do the 5k.
