Ready or not, it is on us. We're only a few months out. Yes, we usually start this a month or so earlier at the Ogden Marathon, but we've got some exciting things we've worked out for this year's event that we've been holding for.
So, here we are. Registration is officially open!
This year you'll notice a few new differences with The Classic Race. Don't worry, we're not being too dramatic with the changes. We know you love the race as it is, so we are very cautious when we consider any changes.
The largest change for this year is a slight change to the course. The start finish area will be over on the Northeast end of the park. We've been in the Ed Kenley Amphitheater for years and we've started to outgrow it. We'll start and finish on the loop around the part of the park directly East of Surf 'n Swim or directly North of Layton High School (Constitution Circle). The registration area, post-race feed and party, awards, and packet pick-up will all take place over in that area. This change helps us alleviate one of the areas on the course that has always been a concern for quite a few of you - the narrow sidewalk area through the park and the sharp uphill into the finish area.
Another minor change is we'll be staggering the start of the 10k and the 5k about 20 minutes this year instead of the 5 minutes we've done in year's past. This will accommodate the request for an earlier start as well pretty well eliminate one of the other bottlenecks on the course - getting onto the Bamberger Trail.
There are a few other exciting things coming, but we don't want to let all of our surprises out at once. Stay tuned for more exciting stuff. See you on September 8th.
